African Canadian Film Festival and Evening Gala

Featuring: Speakers for the Dead; Road Taken; Talespinners; Colour Blind; Raisin' Kane; Black, Bold and Beautiful; Show Girls; Journey to Justice. Link here for more info.

An evening Gala follows the film festival in the boardroom of Museum London, featuring live Jazz music performed by Jeremy Price, Dean Harrison and Steve Lidman, and a historical portrayal of Mary Ann Shadd-Carey as a teacher, journalist and the first Black woman newspaper editor in 19th century Ontario. Gwen Robinson will portray Mary Ann Shadd-Carey. Refreshments will be served.

This event is open to 15 to 30-year-olds interested in planning their future careers. Employers in the policing and the civil security sector, law, federal civil service and post-secondary educational institutions have all been invited to attend.

The London Round Table of Black History Month presents the official launching of the Black History Month Calendar "Celebrating Our History, Contributions and Diversity." A wine and cheese reception will be held to launch the calendar. Come and learn about the rich contributions of African-Canadians, both past and present, to the London Community.

Black History Month Closing Gala

A free gala event of performing artists will be held on Friday, February 28, from 7 to 9 pm at the Wolf Performance Hall of the London Public Library to mark the conclusion of Black History Month.

Following the performance, a reception will be held in the Stevenson & Hunt Room across from the Performance Hall.
